What is a JPEG Border Adder?

A JPEG Border Adder is a free online tool that puts a solid-color frame around your JPG or JPEG photo. You choose how thick the border is and what color it should be, check the result instantly, and download the finished image.

A border makes a photo look neat and complete. It separates the picture from a busy background, adds a clean edge to product shots, and gives screenshots, certificates, and scanned documents a finished look. You don’t need Photoshop or any app. The tool works right in your browser, on both desktop and mobile.

Use it when you want to:

  • Frame photos for printing or gifting
  • Make product images stand out in a store
  • Add a white border for social media posts
  • Outline screenshots for guides and tutorials
  • Match a photo to your brand color
  • Tidy up scanned documents and IDs

How to add a border to a JPEG

  1. Upload your image

Click the upload area or drag and drop your JPG or JPEG file into the tool. Your photo appears in the preview straight away.

  2. Set the border width

Move the Border Width slider to make the frame thinner or thicker. The current size in pixels is shown beside the slider, and the preview updates as you drag.

  3. Pick a border color

Click the Border Color box and choose any color. Use white for a classic photo look, black for a bold edge, or your brand color for a consistent style.

  4. Download your JPG

When the preview looks right, click Download JPG. To start over with another photo, click Upload New Image.

Tip: Larger photos need a thicker border to look the same. A 20px border looks bold on a small image but barely shows on a 4000px photo, so check the preview before you download.

Frequently asked questions

Is this JPEG Border Adder free to use?

Yes. The tool is completely free. There is no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how many images you can process.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. [Edit this answer if your tool works differently.] The border is added inside your browser, so your image stays on your device and is never sent to or stored on our servers.

Will adding a border reduce my image quality?

Your original photo is not resized or altered. The border is drawn around it, so the picture itself stays sharp. The final file is saved as a JPG, so its overall file size may change slightly.

Does the border make the image bigger?

Yes, a little. The border is added around your photo, so the finished image becomes wider and taller by the border width on each side. For example, a 20px border adds 40px to the total width and height.

Can I use it with PNG or WebP images?

This tool is built for JPG and JPEG files. For other formats, convert the image to JPG first, then add your border.

Does it work on mobile phones?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, tablets, and computers. No app is needed.
