What is a JPG Blurrer?
A JPG Blurrer is a free online tool that softens your JPG or JPEG photo by blurring it. You move a slider to set the blur radius, see the result straight away, and download the blurred image when it looks right.
Blurring blends neighboring pixels together, so sharp edges and fine details fade into a smooth, soft look. A small amount can calm a harsh image, and a large amount turns a photo into a gentle color wash. You don’t need Photoshop or any editing app. The tool runs in your browser, on both desktop and mobile, and it blurs the whole image at once.
Use it when you want to:
- Create a soft background for banners and slides
- Make text easier to read over a photo
- Hide fine details in a picture
- Make a tiny, blurred preview image
- Soften harsh edges or digital noise
- Add a dreamy, out-of-focus effect
Choosing the right blur radius
The blur radius is measured in pixels. The bigger the number, the softer the picture. The right amount also depends on the size of your photo, because the same radius looks stronger on a small image than on a large one.
How to blur a JPG image
-
Upload your image
Click the upload area or drag and drop your JPG or JPEG file into the tool. Your photo appears in the preview straight away.
-
Set the blur radius
Move the Blur Radius slider to the right for more blur, or to the left for less. The value in pixels is shown beside the slider, and the preview updates as you drag.
-
Check the preview
Look at the picture and adjust until the blur feels right. If you are making a background, make sure any text you plan to put on top will still be easy to read.
-
Download your JPG
Click Download JPG to save the blurred image. To work on another photo, click Upload New Image.
Tip: Keep your original photo. A blurred image can’t be turned back into a sharp one, so save the blurred version as a separate file.
Frequently asked questions
Is this JPG Blurrer free to use?
Yes. The tool is completely free. There is no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how many images you can blur.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. [Edit this answer if your tool works differently.] The blur is applied inside your browser, so your image stays on your device and is never sent to or stored on our servers.
Does it blur the whole image or only part of it?
The tool blurs the whole image evenly. If you only need to hide one area, such as a face or a number plate, blur is not the best fit here. A solid block that covers that area is safer and more reliable.
What does blur radius mean?
Blur radius is how far each pixel mixes with the pixels around it, measured in pixels. A small radius gives a light softening, and a large radius gives a strong blur. Because it is measured in pixels, a large photo needs a bigger radius than a small photo to look equally blurred.
Can I undo the blur after I download the image?
No. Once the blurred image is saved, the lost detail cannot be brought back. Keep a copy of your original photo so you can start again with a different blur amount.
Does it work on mobile phones?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, tablets, and computers. No app is needed.
